Our remarkable little community of rental homes in Fairport is almost to the finish line! Our last unit of townhomes is scheduled to be completed in early 2018. Homes in the Community have 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, modern full kitchens, abundant natural light, and many features typically found in custom-built homes. StoneBrook is so unique because of its hillside location, the space between homes, expansive wooded and grassy areas, a stream and several ponds, and views that are awe-inspiring. The Crescent Trail trailhead is located right on the property; the Trolley Trail is a 5 minute walk or less. And we are a 10 minute drive to the 490 expressway. If renting a home is high on your to-do list, drive to Fairport and let us show you why this particular community is a wonderful place to live!
Fairport residents are fortunate to have several excellent grocery stores and markets within close proximity: Wegmans, Tops, Fairport Farmers Market, and Red Bird Market, to name a few. Recently, ALDI opened a store in Fairport at 6687 Pittsford Palmyra Rd. If you have never been to an ALDI store, get ready for a new adventure. The company website states clearly that ALDI has their own unique style. First, carts cost 25 cents to “rent”. Return your cart and get your quarter back! You will never see carts strewn about an ALDI parking lot! Bring your own grocery bags or buy reusable ones at the checkout; no plastic bags are used to pack your groceries here. Although you will not find name-brands at ALDI, you will find ALDI brands, which are made of the same or even higher quality than national brands. Lastly, the chain makes no claims that they stock everything you need on your grocery list. Just the opposite. ALDI stores have a smaller inventory than most of their competitors, focusing on “must-haves” in their smaller stores. With a smaller footprint, lower rent and electricity costs allows them to pass the savings on to you, and, getting in and out of the store is typically a breeze. It’s a remarkably low-stress option.
Perinton Recreation & Parks Department includes a very active 55 Plus program. Whether it is lunch, arts & crafts, exercise programs, chorus, health promotion programs, cards, Bingo, trips, clubs or special events - the center is an active place. And some special programs have been scheduled for December.
For example, hop on a bus and enjoy the holiday lights in Perinton. This Holiday Lights Tour in the Town of Perinton, Dec. 13th, starts at 6pm and the bus returns at 7:30 ($5/person). On Dec. 14th from 5-7pm, a Dinner/Dance is scheduled. Enjoy music, dancing and a meal. Registration is $15 per person.
If you are searching for a way to help others during the holiday, consider donating non-perishable food items to the Backpack Project. For at least three years, Perinton Seniors have been generously donating to this cause. A bin is located in the 55+ Lounge for your donations. When the bin is full the food is delivered to Flower City School #54 and items are placed in backpacks and sent home with 45 participants each Friday. 100% of the students are on a free or reduced meal program. Your donation will help these students have a healthy start.
This is just a sampling of the many 55 Plus activities at the Rec Center. Check out the December newsletter: http://www.perinton.org/files/December%20Newsletter.pdf
Advent House, a home in Fairport serving people in their last stages of a terminal illness, has for years held a huge annual garage sale as a fundraiser. Hours for the resale shop are Wed. /Thurs. /Fri. /Sat. 10am-5pm; open until 7pm on Thursdays.
For those wishing to donate, Sweet Charity has chosen to gladly accept very specific items and most are house-hold related such as furniture, antiques and vintage, housewares, linens, decorative pillows, artwork, jewelry, frames, purses, small appliances, lamps. (Please see their FaceBook page the exact list: https://www.facebook.com/SweetCharityFairport/). They have chosen to pass on items such as clothing, tools, toys, televisions, sporting goods, craft items (again, please see FB page).
