StoneBrook Townhomes & Cottages is Nearly Completed

Our remarkable little community of rental homes in Fairport is almost to the finish line!  Our last unit of townhomes is scheduled to be completed in early 2018.  Homes in the Community have 2 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms, modern full kitchens, abundant natural light, and many features typically found in custom-built homes.  StoneBrook is so unique because of its hillside location, the space between homes, expansive wooded and grassy areas, a stream and several ponds, and views that are awe-inspiring.   The Crescent Trail trailhead is located right on the property; the Trolley Trail is a 5 minute walk or less.  And we are a 10 minute drive to the 490 expressway.  If renting a home is high on your to-do list, drive to Fairport and let us show you why this particular community is a wonderful place to live!

New Grocery Store Option

Fairport residents are fortunate to have several excellent grocery stores and markets within close proximity: Wegmans, Tops, Fairport Farmers Market, and Red Bird Market, to name a few.   Recently, ALDI opened a store in Fairport at 6687 Pittsford Palmyra Rd.  If you have never been to an ALDI store, get ready for a new adventure.  The company website states clearly that ALDI has their own unique style.  First, carts cost 25 cents to “rent”.  Return your cart and get your quarter back!  You will never see carts strewn about an ALDI parking lot!  Bring your own grocery bags or buy reusable ones at the checkout; no plastic bags are used to pack your groceries here.  Although you will not find name-brands at ALDI, you will find ALDI brands, which are made of the same or even higher quality than national brands.  Lastly, the chain makes no claims that they stock everything you need on your grocery list.  Just the opposite.  ALDI stores have a smaller inventory than most of their competitors, focusing on “must-haves” in their smaller stores.  With a smaller footprint, lower rent and electricity costs allows them to pass the savings on to you, and, getting in and out of the store is typically a breeze.  It’s a remarkably low-stress option.

So Great to be 55 or Older!

Perinton Recreation & Parks Department includes a very active 55 Plus program.  Whether it is lunch, arts & crafts, exercise programs, chorus, health promotion programs, cards, Bingo, trips, clubs or special events - the center is an active place.   And some special programs have been scheduled for December.

For example, hop on a bus and enjoy the holiday lights in Perinton.   This Holiday Lights Tour in the Town of Perinton, Dec. 13th, starts at 6pm and the bus returns at 7:30 ($5/person).  On Dec. 14th from 5-7pm, a Dinner/Dance is scheduled.  Enjoy music, dancing and a meal.  Registration is $15 per person.

If you are searching for a way to help others during the holiday, consider donating non-perishable food items to the Backpack Project. For at least three years, Perinton Seniors have been generously donating to this cause.  A bin is located in the 55+ Lounge for your donations.  When the bin is full the food is delivered to Flower City School #54 and items are placed in backpacks and sent home with 45 participants each Friday.  100% of the students are on a free or reduced meal program.  Your donation will help these students have a healthy start.

This is just a sampling of the many 55 Plus activities at the Rec Center.  Check out the December newsletter:

Crescent Trail Guided Hike

The Crescent Trail is a system of footpaths within the Town of Perinton suitable for uses such as hiking, cross-country running, snowshoeing, nature study, and photography.  Approximately thirty-five miles of footpaths provide public access to wooded hills, Town parklands, scenic overlooks, the margins of wetlands, and other preserved open spaces. The Trail connects with the Erie Canal Heritage Trail and the RS&E Trolley Trail.
Most sections of the Crescent Trail are single-lane dirt pathways. A continuous, orange-blazed main trail is nearly completed – planned as a crescent-shaped route between the southwest and northeast quadrants of Perinton. Additional branch trails, loop trails, connecting paths, and access paths allow self-guided walks of up to two hours. Longer, half-day or day-long outings can be enjoyed as point to point hikes or by using connections with the Trolley Trail or Canal Trail.
Many sections of the Crescent Trail are on private land. The continued use of the Trail and the opening of new sections depend upon users obeying posted signs and respecting the rights of property owners. If you see trash on the Trail during your hike, please pick it up and carry it out, to help keep our trail ways clean! Motorized and wheeled vehicles, including bicycles, are not permitted on the Crescent Trail.

The next Crescent Trail Guided Hike is planned for August 13, 2017. For information call the CTHA voice mailbox at 585-234-1621 to leave a message or listen to a recording of the upcoming monthly hike, or send an email to

Fairport Farmers Market

Its summer and that means there are great opportunities to enjoy savoring produce at the peak of freshness made available by area growers.  It also supports our local folks who grow this wonderful produce. There are many reasons to support your local Farm Market.

  •  The fruits and vegetables you buy are the freshest.  They are allowed to ripen fully in the field and are brought directly to you.
  •  The food you purchase at the market reflects the truest flavors.
  • You can support our family famers by buying directly from them.  This gives them a better return on their produce.
  •  Food at a farmers market is transported a shorter distance and is generally grown using methods that minimize the impact on the Earth.
  • Most food at the market is minimally processed.
  •  At a farmers market you will find an array of produce that you will not see in your average supermarket.
  •  At a farmers market you can find meats, cheeses, and eggs from animals that have been raised without hormones or antibiotics.
The Fairport Farmers Market is every Saturday morning from 8:00-12:00 in the parking lot behind Bank of America, and Canal Landing. For a complete listing of all Farmers Markets in the area go to

Discover Stonebrook in Fairport!

At StoneBrook Townhomes & Cottages, the Crescent Trail is can be found directly across from the Clubhouse. StoneBrook has plenty of open space and also access to this gem of a trail system. The Crescent trailhead is clearly marked and given our mild weather, has been walkable or hikeable all winter. A short, hilly section on the StoneBrook property leads you over Thayer Road. Hiking a bit further takes you to the main trail. Heading south will hook in to the Jensen Stables & Horse Farm loop. What a beautiful vista you will encounter. So, if a sunny day is beckoning you to discover a new hiking trail, don’t overlook this gem right here on StoneBrook property.
Before the Crescent Trail
Many years before the Crescent Trail was a footpath, and almost a decade before the founding of the Crescent Trail Hiking Association, the idea for the trail was "blazed" by a series of circumstances, decisions, and actions.

The Town of Perinton had experienced phenomenal development and population growth in the 1960's with more than 15,000 residents moving into the area. If the Town did not have a way to control growth and development, Perinton could become an environmental mess.

With changes in NYS law, in 1971, Perinton appointed 9 resident volunteers to serve as an Environmental Conservation Committee. They conducted an inventory of all undeveloped land and also recommended programs for the preservation of critical environmental areas. By Sept of 1971, they completed their inventory and began to serve in an official role known as the Perinton Environmental Conservation Board.

The Birth of the Crescent Trail
The large blocks of undeveloped land in the Eco plans report were mostly clustered in an arc extending between the southwestern and northeastern quadrants of Perinton. As members of the Conservation Board talked with landowners about Easements and LDDs, they came up with the idea of preserving the land -- in a way that would inter-connect many of the open spaces. The arc became the "crescent" and the objective was to create a footpath "trail" that would enable public access to, and appreciation of, Perinton's environmental legacy.

The Wildlife that Surrounds Our Apartments is Breathtaking

Even in March, we are continually awed at the remarkable wildlife found in our StoneBrook Community.  Our ponds at StoneBrook Townhomes & Cottages are active with ducks and geese.  And on a sunny, warm day we caught this beautiful hawk enjoying the view from one of our townhomes. Yet, StoneBrook is less than 4 miles from Eastview Mall, 6 miles to the NYS Thruway and 2 miles to both Tops and Wegmans.  We are close to everything you need, yet beautiful vistas, wildlife and green space can be enjoyed every day at StoneBrook Townhomes and Cottages, in Fairport, NY.

This area is home to lots of wildlife!
