Tucked in Perinton Hills Shopping Center is a wonderful Asian restaurant, Bistro Han.  They made a splash with their pork belly steamed buns, yet they have an extensive menu of soup, noodle dishes, small plates, entrees and vegetarian dishes.   If you aren’t familiar with steamed buns, think dough folded over to the size of something you could hold in your hand, filled with browned pork, scallions, pickles and peanuts, in the case of the pork belly buns.  Steamed buns are also available with beef, chicken or
Shiitake Mushroom.  Find them at daily at 687 Moseley Rd. in Fairport.

“Authentic New York style Pizza” is how The Pizza Chef describes themselves.  This is delicious thin crust pizza.  Their menu also contains salads, wings, subs, appetizer-type offerings, calzones, stromboli, and of course, pizza!  In business since 2000, they make their dough and sauce daily, have a loyal following and in the crowded pizza business, have proven they are the real deal.  The Pizza Chef is located at 7 East Ave. in Fairport and is open daily. 

Vinny's Bakery & Deli is a Traditional Italian Deli/Bakery in Fairport NY


There seems to be fewer and fewer bakeries in the Fairport area but hold the phone, authentic cannoli and Italian cookies, among other things, can be found at Vinny’s Bakery and Deli.  Reviewers rave about the subs – fresh bread and meat, as well as the stuffed bread and Sicilian pizza.  Vinny and his wife own this traditional Italian deli/bakery located at 1350 Fairport Rd., across from Tom Wahl’s.  Don’t look for a website, you won’t find one.  Sounds like it is worth checking out!

Mac’s Philly Steaks has a Fairport location at 71 N. Main St. (377-0033).  This casual, quick food restaurant specializes in Philly-style steak sandwiches yet has a large menu offering salads, hot dogs, soup, chili, roast pork, burgers, fish fries and the aforementioned authentic Philly cheesesteaks as well as chicken Phillys.  The roll is brought in from Amoroso’s bakery in Philadelphia
. The website contains attractive pictures of the food, as well as coupons.

Did you know the DMV now offers mobile service for routine transactions?


The Perinton Town Hall, at 1350 Turk Hill Rd., hosts the Department of Motor Vehicles each Friday from 10am – 3:30pm. 
Routine DMV transactions are processed at the mobile sight, such as driver licenses, permits, non-driver ID cards and registrations.
Driver licenses, permits and non-driver ID cards
  • Renewals for operator and motorcycle licenses, permits, and non-driver ID cards;
  • CDL renewals (except with HazMat or towing endorsements);
  • Written tests for operator and motorcycle permits, Passports are accepted as proof of date of birth at Metro Mobile only (until 2:30 p.m.);
  • Duplicates for all types of licenses, permits, and non-driver ID cards;
  • Amendments to all types of licenses, permits, and non-driver ID cards;
  • Enhanced Driver Licenses (Metro Mobile only);
  • Conversions of out-of-state driver licenses to New York (Metro Mobile only).

The 11th annual Fairport NY Clean Sweep is scheduled for April 22-24, 2016.


One of Fairport’s greatest assets is the Erie Canal that flows right through the Village.  This year the Fairport Perinton Partnership for a Better Community and Senator Rich Funke team up to clean up public spaces along the canal in the Village.  On Saturday, April 23rd from 9am-12pm, the organizers will put their cleanup plan in place and your help is needed!  Looking for individuals or youth/civic groups to help with the cleanup.

Volunteers will meet at the Box Factory Pavilion at 9am and are asked to bring a broom, flat shovel and rake. Help Fairport prepare for an exciting and safe season on the beautiful Erie Canal. 


The Corner Bookstore - Used & Collectible Books in Fairport NY



Are you knee deep in Spring cleaning and find yourself with piles of books? 

Donate them to The Corner Bookstore at 106 Village Landing in Fairport (upstairs from the library).   The bookstore sells quality used and vintage books; donations are accepted during store hours:  Tuesdays, Thursday, and Saturdays, 10am-4pm; Friday, 10am – 2pm.

The Corner Bookstore is a venture of the Friends of the Fairport Library. The store's inventory of gently used and collectible books donated by the local community are modestly priced. Proceeds support library programs. Volunteers staff the store.
