Tucked within the Perinton Square Mall is Tandoor of India. This spacious restaurant serves authentic Indian food, prepared for your taste, from mild to medium, to hot spiciness. Some of these spices have been prescribed for centuries for both improving health and for their healing properties.
“Tandoor” describes a clay oven that is heated to extremely high temperatures where marinated meats are cooked, keeping them moist, tender and flavorful. Tandoor of India has an extensive menu and also serves a lunch buffet is daily (including Saturday and Sunday) with a dinner buffet every Wednesday.
A Fairport institution, Clawson’s is a deli, grocery store and so much more. Small in size, it is packed with convenience store-type items, plus some! Their pizza is delicious (they are famous for their breakfast pizza), same for their fish fry (take out), fresh bread and homemade soup. Beer lover? Clawson has beer on tap and will fill up a Clawson’s Growler with your favorite. Located at 1231 Ayrault Rd., on the corner of Ayrault and Hogan Roads, it is easy in, easy out.
Golden Phoenix is located in a small strip-mall in the Fairport hamlet of Egypt serving traditional Chinese food. The restaurant offers take-out and delivery service as well as an eat-in restaurant with an extensive Chinese food menu as well as vegetarian and gluten-free options. Aja Noodle, conveniently located across the street from Wegmans at 42 Perinton Hills, is an Asian-inspired restaurant. You can order salad bowls, soup, noodle and rice bowls, all inspired from the cuisines of Japan, China, Vietnam and Thailand. Aja Noodle also offers a sizeable vegetarian and vegan menu. Most of the entrée bowls include loads of fresh vegetables, with your choice to add a protein. The restaurant prides itself as being a good value with generous portions; many entrees priced below $8.00. A full bar, including specialty beers and wines from Asia, compliment the menu. Delicious, fresh-tasting food at excellent prices.
Fairport has a winery (Casa Larga Vineyards), a brewery (Fairport Brewing Co. Taproom), and a distillery –Iron Smoke Whiskey! The idea behind Iron Smoke is to combine whiskey and backyard BBQ smoke. To date, the company produces two whiskeys, Apple Wood Iron Smoked Whiskey and Rattlesnake Rosie’s Apple Pie Whiskey Rattlesnake Rosie’s Apple Pie Whiskey has a sweet apple pie flavor; the Apple Wood Smoked Whiskey is “sweet to the nose”, and a warm apple wood smoke finish. Both are available locally in restaurants, bars and liquor stores

After many months and many changes, the Fairport Library renovation is complete and will reopen on Monday, November 2nd.
The library will have a new entrance on the north side of the building, opening onto Kennelly Park. You will also find self-check out stations, a new Teen Room and new Children’s Room, a book drop in the parking garage (did you even know there is a parking garage??!), and more.
November’s calendar is chocked full of programs for all ages and interests: story time for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers; SAT prep; job seekers; book discussions, and more

Did you know that Perinton has an active food shelf? The Perinton Food shelf supports people in need who live in the Town of Perinton and Village of Fairport. The Food Shelf gladly accepts donations of non-perishable food items, toiletries, as well as monetary donations which are used to purchase meat, milk, eggs and margarine. Monetary donations in the form of a check can be mailed to: Perinton Food Shelf, Inc. P.O. Box 381, Fairport, NY 14450-0381.
The October list of most-needed items include:

- Beef Stew
- Bar Soap
- Toilet Paper
- Paper Towels

The Food Shelf has partnered with local businesses and the town to make donating convenient. Drop off your donations at the Perinton Town Hall (1350 Turk Hill Road, Fairport, New York), the Fairport Library, Red Bird Market, Fairport Pharmacy and the Fairport Village Hall.
And if your preference is to give your time, the Food Shelf is looking for volunteers to assist with a variety of jobs such as screening clients, sorting, stocking, and packing and delivering groceries to residents in need.
