Brand new in Fairport as of July 28th is The Porterhouse Steak, Scotch and Seafood. Located at 400 Packett’s Landing, the restaurant overlooks the Erie Canal with great views of the canal and sunsets. This is the space formally occupied by Joey B’s. The name tells the story of what to expect on the very interesting menu. The Porterhouse has an outside seating area as well as well as Happy Hour every Tuesday-Friday, Buy One Get One from 4:30 until 6:30pm.

Looking for a friendly, local tavern, where you may very well hear a crowd cheering for the home team, visit the Fairport Village Inn, at 103 N.Main St. in Fairport. The Inn serves lunch daily and dinners Tuesday through Sat. They offer daily lunch specials and weekly dinner specials. Seafood, chicken, beef and pasta entrees can be found on the menu at the Fairport Village Inn, as well as the fabulous Friday Fish Fry dinner. Delicious prime rib is served Thursdays and Saturdays. During football season you will find the Sunday NFL ticket on many of their TV screens. This local tavern has been run by the Beckwith family since 1976… where everybody knows your name.
On September 26th Lollypop Farm in Fairport will host its annual Barktober Fest, now in its 18th year. This walk, race and festival event helps homeless and abused pets. You don’t need to have a dog to participate yet your family pets are welcome to attend! Funds raised through Bartober Fest provide life-saving care for homeless and abused pets in our community. Right in the middle of Fairport Village is an independent grocery store with a local focus, featuring locally made food as well as general groceries, fresh produce and gifts. A sampling of the local brands you will find at Red Bird Market include The Pierogie Guy, Flour City Pasta, Karma Sauce, Arbor Hill Vineyard and local cheeses from Muranda Cheese, Cuba Cheese Shoppe, Lively Run Goat Farm, Yancy’s Fancy and River Rat. Fresh baked goods and homemade peanut butter milled in the Red Bird kitchen can also be found at Red Bird. They are located in the Fairport Village Landing mall and are open Monday through Saturday. Personable, friendly service is a given!
Summer is behind us but the festivities at this local winery continue to offer reasons to visit! Winery tours are offered twice daily with tastings throughout the day. Visit on Sunday, Sept. 13th from 11-6pm for the annual Purple Foot Festival where you can stomp grapes and so much more: wine tasting, music, vendors, and food trucks.
Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30 -8:30 through Sept. 10th the vineyard hosts ROC Patio Parties. Relax with live music from a local band and some of Rochester's finest food trucks. On Sundays from 10am-2pm through Oct. 25th you’ll find Farm to Table Farmer’s Market at the vineyard – local produce, food and crafts. Fall is a glorious time to get out and explore – and Casa Larga is literally in our back yard!
The first day of the 2015-16 school year at Fairport Central School District for students (a full day session) is Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015. Since this falls before Labor Day this year, the school calendar does have a Labor Day holiday Friday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 7. As a result, there is no school on Sept. 4 and Sept. 7.
